Donald "Donnie" Fernandez, Jr. is a Del Rio native. After Del Rio High School graduation in 2001, Donnie joined the United States Marine Corps. and served four years that included three tours in Iraq.
In 2007, Donnie joined the Del Rio Police Department where he held the titles of Police Officer, Honor Guard, Detective, Field Training Officer and Senior Officer. Donnie also received 3 Life Saver Awards. While employed with Del Rio Police Department he enlisted in the Army National Guard, served two years and recieved the Army Achievement medal.
Donnie laterally transfered to Garland Police Department and held titles of a Field Training Officer and Instructor. Donnie was also a member of the elite SWAT team.
Donnie is a proud son, brother and father and he is honored and priviledged to now be apart of the City of Sonora Police Department to serve and keep our community safe.
